It was almost two more years before she learned of her husband’s fate as a detainee, a revelation that led to a rare invitation to testify before the United Nations. Determined to share her story and speak on behalf of the women of Syria, Hanadi once again leaves everything behind, smuggling her and her daughters out of the country in the middle of the night.</image:caption>
